Light streaming through windows, cheery and warm, grounded in black velvet shadow. But this is definitely a winter scene – the sun is low, the branches outside are bare, and the overly optimistic leaves (launched in midsummer) of the calla lily on the sill are drooping their last.
Is the figure the subject, or part of the canvas?
This month’s theme is “windows“.
This detail on its own doesn’t really have anything to do with windows. I just like it.
What a fabulous shot and I am not sure the answer to that question… maybe both

Yes – this is beautiful.
Perfect composition – and the subject is stunning! (Or is that the canvas) 🙂

It can’t help but be the subject. It arouses … interest, and catches the eye.

It seems that you’re in a minority here. But I’m flattered that your … interest was aroused.

The shadows of the branches are fantastic! Great shot!

Both beautiful images. I love the shadows of the barren branches. And that shoulder – absolutely beautiful. I can see why you cropped it for the second shot.

I will say the canvas. The bare branches reflected both on you and the wall bring the cold, stark winter into the room hovering over all. The shoulder entices a good nibble.
